Summary: Being an explorer was all he had wanted to do.
A/N: I have no idea where this came from.
To ensure that no one knew who he was Oliver gave a fake name. No one would believe that the son of two billionaires would want to be an explorer, let alone actually become one. It had been a surprise to everyone in the family but even then they had wanted him to go into the family business but they were happy for him to follow his heart, at least while he was in his twenties. What they hadn’t expected was for him to take a fake name, the Green Arrow of all things, and hide his accomplishments. It was surreal to them, hiding the accomplishment away like it was something to be ashamed of, because it had never been done before.
In all honesty though Oliver had only discovered a spice and a hand full of flowers that no one else had discovered whilst exploring the Alps. Still the spice had been combined with one of the flowers to create what scientists were speculating to be a cure for cancer. It was pretty impressive and people seemed to think that it meant that the Green Arrow was some kind of hero, providing new medicines.
When push came to shove though all Oliver cared about with the girl with the sparkling green eyes and the beautiful golden hair. He had met her on his first trip through the Alps and if he was honest with himself she was the reason why he only travelled the Alps now days. Chloe. She was so beautiful, passionate and challenging. She liked to prove she was just as smart as him. The others in her tribe stayed away from her since she was a widow and the women were scared she would go after their husbands. Oliver knew she wasn’t like that. She was kind and gentle. She didn’t want to steal a man away from his wife. She wanted someone who just wanted her.
And want her Oliver did.
He didn’t want to deny it. Sure he had offered to take her back with him but every time she had laughed it off, as if it was some kind of joke. He was dead serious though. He wanted nothing more than to take her home with him and love her until the day he died. So he took one last trip through the Alps. Sure he did some exploring but he would turn thirty by the end of the year and would be expected to take over the company.
Squaring his shoulders he made the decision one morning, late in June, to stop procrastinating and head straight for the tribe’s camp. When he reached it three days later he went straight to Chloe, not even bothering to say hello to others in the tribe who greeted him. Dropping on one knee in front of him he pulled out the ring he had kept in his pocket and presented it to her.
“Chloe you’ve bewitched me and all I want to do is spend the rest of my life with you. Marry me and return with me to my home? If this is not acceptable then I will stay here with you forever. I just know that I love you and I want to spend forever with you. Please say yes.”
Looking straight into her eyes he was surprised when she had tears in her eyes that were threatening to spill over. More than anything though he was elated when she whispered, “Yes,” before allowing him to pick her up, spinning her around, before settling her down and kissing the only girl he loved more than anything.
