au_bingo card
Word Count: 523
Summary: A dance that makes Blaine question love.
A/N: So I had no idea how to do this prompt. The prompt post suggested a crossover or fusion so I placed some Glee members into the West Side Story cannon (because it’s my favourite musical). This does mean I rewrote the dance scene a little, you’ll just have to forgive me for that.
Anyway, enjoy?
Watching Tony dance was incredible. He moved so gracefully across the floor. Why he was dancing with the girl who was clearly Puerto Rican was beyond Blaine though. Of course he couldn’t really talk considering who he spent his time with. Sure the boy he spent time with was a member of the Sharks but that didn’t make it better in that day and age. It was the fact he spent time with a boy that was the problem. He may as well have gone after a Jets girl. It would make life easier after all.
He couldn’t fight his feelings though. He was in love with a boy and if it wasn’t this boy it would be another boy. Without any doubt Blaine knew he was gay. Sure he had tried a hand at heterosexuality but that had lead fellow Shark Finn to hit him and Riff exiling them both for two weeks because of in gang fighting. He didn’t even want to imagine what Finn would do if he learnt that the boy he was seeing was Kurt. It drove him up a wall not being able to declare his feelings but he didn’t know what else to do.
When the lights snapped on suddenly he hadn’t expected it. Seeing the coppers in the doorway he spotted Tony frozen in the middle of the dance floor he ran out, grabbing the boys arm and pulling him towards the closet door. Jumping the wall he let go of Tony as the boy came to stand beside him, running along with him.
Slowing to a jog when he no longer heard the sirens he turned to Tony, “What were you thinking?”
“That she’s amazing,” Tony whispered, “That I know this after only having just met her.”
“But she’s Puerto Rican.”
“I know. That doesn’t change how I feel. Haven’t you ever wanted to do something insanely crazy?”
“Every day but that doesn’t change anything.”
“But it should Blaine. I know you’re still new to the Sharks but that doesn’t mean that you can’t be who you are.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Blaine growled.
Tony shrugged, “Just that you Kurt shouldn’t have to hide.”
“Please, we’d be more frowned upon than you and the Puerto Rican girl,” Blaine scoffed, “Gays are never accepted, there considered lower than mixed race couples. It’s just the way society is.”
“Someday society will change.”
“I hope so because I never want to have to hide this love,” Blaine replied, his voice barely over a whisper, “I love him and he loves me. It’s just society that doesn’t love us.”
“But is it worth it.”
“Kurt is worth this and so much more,” Blaine whispered, “Which is why we can never truly be together. He deserves more than the bashing he’ll get if we publicly declare our love and the secrecy that will come if we continue to love the way we have.”
“I would support you.” Tony whispered in response, placing a hand on Blaine’s arm.
“Just as I will support you when you go after the Puerto Rican,” Blaine replied, “It’s what Sharks do.”
“Dam straight.”
