no one sets out to ruin you. It's just something that happens along the way. A person has a lot of concerns, like a tray with many glasses on it, each one filled with amounts of water (or juice, or whatever - it's a metaphor, go with it) and you spend the average day watching all the glasses and seeing which are more empty and which you can fill today. You have to keep all the glasses more or less at the same level, to keep the whole tray on an even keel. Sometimes, when you put one glass before the others, and fill it more than the rest, the tray tips, and the others topple, and they lose what they had in them. This has the effect of making the one glass too heavy, and no matter what you do, it ends up dumped. Then, you are left with a tray with tumbled glassware, and no water at all. But what we often forget is that the glasses are still there. We can still add to each one. It's just frustrating having to start from the beginning again
