Oh god, I was expecting huge racefail (which delivered!), but the genderfail on top of that hit me like a ton of bricks. :I

........whitewashing of Cleopatra, REALLY? REALLY? She's one of thew few well known NOT WHITE women in history within the West, WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS. Shakespeare at least had a historical context excuse, but in these modern days no one does! /huffs and goes back to plotting her Empress Wu Zetian novel. For recognition!!

I wish I could say I wasn't expecting the genderfail but I completely was. It's not a surprise that they downplayed Katara's strength and cut out other female characters.

I'm glad to see it's bombing huge in the reviews. Let's hope that also translates to the box office.

What's that Katara? You've been taken as a strong female lead and reduced to a whimpering not-even-love-interest whose sole contribution is giving the main character pep talks?

I get the feeling she's meant to be a love interest, given that apparently the reason Aang runs away in the film is not so much that he's the Avatar and needs to go off and train, but that he's the Avatar and therefore can't have a family. HMMMM.
