I never know what to get my kids when gift time rolls around. Usually it's a good bet to get Trip something that's aimed about 2 years older than his current age. This year he asked me for a microscope. I don't remember when I got mine, but I'm pretty sure I was older than 8. He's getting one from Nana. I settled for getting an electronic dart

I am a terrible Santa. Most years we bomb with the kids, although not too badly. I just have a limit on what I will spend or what I am willing to get for them. They don't seem too terribly scarred. Yet. We'll see what therapy brongs out when they are adults

I think Isaac was 7 when he asked Santa for a microscope, he loved, and still loves it, every now and then I find him looking at his blood (or the funniest was the day he asked me if I would be mad if he peed in a bottle so he could look at his urine.)

There are some fun sets of prepared slides on Ebay that have all sorts of interesting specimens already on them.
