Summary: The King's only son, Prince Jin, is gravely ill and it is said that only a kiss of life from a Whisperer - immortals who are able to wield magic - can cure the Prince. But Whisperers happen to be wiped out in the old times due to the decree passed by the previous royalties. Or so they thought until a Whisperer was caught. But there's a catch - this Whisperer happens to be a male.
A/N: Just like I promised, I'm posting this right after my statistics exam. Everyone's curious to why and how Jin knows Kazuya. You'll find the answer in this chapter ^^
Chapter 3: The Prince's Dreams, The Whisperer's Confusion
"Do you know him, son?" The King asked, bewildered. He had been worried about the Prince's reaction and yet there Prince Jin was, embracing the situation. Quite literally too.
Perhaps his sickness affected his mentality too?
"He has been appearing in my dreams ever since I was a young child," Prince Jin nonchalantly answered.
The King turned a questioning glance at Kazuya but the Whisperer only shook his head. He was just as confused as the King.
The Prince winced when his chest started hurting.
Kazuya, who was steadying the Prince, immediately noticed so he guided him to sit down.
Prince Jin frowned when he noticed the wounds on Kazuya's wrist. Chain marks. "Who dared lay a hand on you?!"
When Kazuya remained silent, Prince Jin pouted. "Talk to me, love."
The King coughed to remind his son that he was still in the room.
"Can you explain this Kazuya?" The King demanded, pertaining to Prince Jin's attachment to him.
He still didn't understand why his son was acting like a lovesick fool. And what did he say? He had been dreaming of the Whisperer? Why?
I have no idea why he dreams of me. Kazuya answered the King in his mind, right on cue.
"Kazu! Don't ignore me!" Prince Jin pleaded, followed by fits of cough.
Kazuya knew he should be pissed and in a way he was, but he found that he was not as annoyed as he should be considering someone from the family he loathes is clinging to him. He was even concerned with the Prince's condition. The Prince was clearly gravely ill.
Perhaps it's precisely because of that. Kazuya thought to himself.
He had never been able to ignore sick people. He always end up trying to help them, no matter who they are. Oftentimes, it is Yamapi who helps him hide his identity. Some humans are cruel and would try to kill him if they knew he was a Whisperer even if he saved them or their children. That didn't stop him from helping them though.
He waved his hand and blue dusts appeared in the air and floated around him.
These dusts are attracted to good energy so if they are repelled from the Prince, that means I won't save him. Kazuya mentally said to the King. He figured it was best to know now if the Prince was worth saving. The faster he could get out of this place, the better.
"What are you doing?" Prince Jin asked warily when Kazuya gathered the dusts in his hand with a flick of his fingers and approached the Prince.
Kazuya ignored the Prince's question as he whispered something to the dusts.
The dusts floated near the Prince and seemed to hesitate for a while before coiling lightly around the Prince's arm.
His soul is pure, Kazuya thought, defeated. The dusts are said to be twins with a good soul. The fact that they coiled around the Prince's arm meant they sensed their twin in him.
Prince Jin was worth saving after all.
He waved his hand once more and the dust obediently floated back to him and disappeared.
"You will save him?" The King asked anxiously.
He glanced at the Prince. "Like I promised."
"Thank heavens!" The King exclaimed, relieved. "This is great news! I shall personally inform the Queen!" He added, leaving to do just that.
Due to his happiness at the assurance that his son would soon be healthy again, the King didn't notice that Kazuya had spoken out loud.
But the Prince did. "Your voice is beautiful," he whispered. His own voice was hoarse with tiredness.
"You should sleep. You're tired," Kazuya suggested instead of commenting on what Prince Jin said.
"Will you be here when I wake up? I'm afraid this might be a dream," the Prince said in a surprisingly child-like manner.
"I'll hold your hand while you sleep," Kazuya found himself answering and clasped the Prince's hand with his own.
Prince Jin smiled contentedly and drifted to sleep.
---------------------------------
When Prince Jin woke up the next morning, he saw Kazuya peacefully sleeping, his hand still holding Jin's loosely.
He couldn't believe that Kazuya, the person he had longed to meet all his life, was finally by his side.
He couldn't even remember the first time he had dreamt of Kazuya. It was as if he had been dreaming of him all his life. While young children dreamt of toys or superheroes or rainbows in their sleep, Jin dreamt of playing with a beautiful boy named Kazuya in a field where winged horses and many more strange creatures were around them - some stopping by and playing with them, some just passing by.
The night of his 18th birthday, whereas most boys his age was dreaming of their sweethearts, Jin dreamt of giving flowers to the lovely Kazuya who was sitting at the edge of a fountain, smiling at Jin.
"I searched everywhere to find flowers that would even come close to your beauty but I found none, I'm sorry." He remembered himself saying in that dream.
At that point, Jin already knew that he was different from boys his age. He was not attracted to girls or for anyone at that matter. He was only attracted to Kazuya, a male.
Jin knew he should have been more concerned. He should have thought of what that would imply on his father and on the Kingdom. But he was calm. Kazuya was keeping him calm in his dreams.
He believed his dreams were premonition of some sort. He believed Kazuya was real so he had tried to quietly search for him, unknown to the King and Queen, but he couldn't find him.
A week before his sickness started, Kazuya told him in his dreams that he should stop searching for him. Then Jin stopped dreaming of him.
Everyday after that, Jin would wake up sad until he became sick of an unexplainable disease. He became weak, not even able to stay on his feet for long periods and every part of his body hurts.
But more than the physical pain, it was the pain of losing Kazuya that made it worst.
Jin now looked at his sleeping angel and he smiled. He was finally here. Kazuya had finally visited him in real life. Jin didn't have a choice in his dream but this time, Jin vowed to make sure Kazuya would stay.
He gently pulled their intertwined hands closer to his face and nuzzled it to his cheek.
Kazuya stirred and his eyes fluttered open. Beautiful light brown orbs gazed at him. Oh how he loved those eyes.
But then again, he loved everything about Kazuya.
"I love you," Jin blurted out, unable to stop himself.
Kazuya let go of Jin's hand and fled to the far corner of the room so fast, Jin didn't even have time to blink.
"Maybe you're more sick than I thought you were," Kazuya said hesitantly before walking out the door.
"Kazu-"
But Kazuya already left.
"Was it something I said?" Prince Jin muttered, confused.
