Aaawwww and me in tears... nice ones, but sad ones. A lovely tale, beautifully told, ending with that sort of 'hope' at the end as a gift to us!

Thank you, really really lovely.

I'm blushing. Thank you so much for this wonderful comment.

I wasn't sure at all how this would be received, being a first time poster here. And then I couldn't really estimate how my words might appear to a native reader. All that make your kind words even more precious.

You've painted a beautiful picture for us. Wonderful world-building and a sweet story - sad but in a nice way. Thank you.

Thank you so much for leavingthis terrific reply.

I'm particularly happy about your words concerning "word-building", for I can't really estimate how that comes across to a native reader. For all I know, what seems good phrasing to me could appear completely off the mark for a native speaker.

So glad this worked for you.

What a lovely thing to say, thanks so much for that!

I didn't expect it to be so difficult to mix Christmas and LOTR, for I couldn't picture our traditions in that universe (and let's not forget that my traditions differ to English and/or American traditions, too). So I'm twice as happy to hear it turned out well.
