I am going to attempt to become a vegetarian. Ok well, I am currently attempting. I am finding it relatively easy yet hard at the same time. Does anyone have any advice?
take your vitamins, always check soups to make sure they aren't made with chicken/beef broth. make sure you're still getting enough protein (eat lots of cheese, nuts, tofu, etc.) there are actually tonnnns of products out there to get. fake "chik'n" nuggets, licks veggie burgers, veggie ground round (like spiced fake ground beef for tacos!) and so much more. i swear, it's surprisingly easy. and it feels good, too! and i hope you love your fruits and veggies
I do love fruits and veggies. I'm not a big cheese guy, but I love everything else. I am tempted to still eat fish, I know that's cheating, but otherwise I think I would die.
like that other person said, take your vitamins. It's important you still take in vitamins and minerals, especially iron and protein. Try alternatives like eating beans with meals and if you like them lentils and try alternative meat dishes like "round ground" in pasta sauce and vegitable cutlets, usually made with spinach or broccoli..they resemble burgers and veal but are veggie friendly:) Also, decide to what degree your vegetarianism is at. Like, will you be eating fish still? Other seafood? Or are you leaning more towards veganism where you'd be drinking soy milk instead of cows milk, etc. Once you do that it's easier to make up your diet.
And, just out of curiousity what brought this change on? Are you trying to make this a permanent lifestyle change?
Thank you for all the advice. I have also wanted to try being vegetarian because I feel that humans are having sucha negative effect on the planet, I have to try and help somehow, even if it's small. But then again, I don't know if I would give up fish because I would still want to get as much protein as I can. Maybe just at the beginning I'll eat fish, who knows, but it will be a learning experience.
