I know I haven't been posting much, but it wasn't for lack of reading/watching things.

I'm as usual polyfandom, but I paid the most attention to Harry Potter and Marvel (comics and MCU)

Your favorite film you watched this year?

On the other hand, it left me feeling more sympathetic for Cyclops than I have in YEARS, which hilariously seemed to be the opposite of the writers' intent.

It seems to be a pretty widespread effect, which only makes it more hilarious. Certainly worked on me! (Nothing like trying to force someone into the villain role for making me take their side. INSTANTLY.)

Icon love!

And yeah, I'm surprised they didn't figure out that this would be the effect. Cyclops as the unchallenged leader of the mutant race was boring and eye-roll worthy, Cyclops as the fallen/ persecuted/ ultimately right figure just pushes all my buttons.

The storyline made me dislike the Avengers too, which is fairly annoying.

I expect they thought Schism would make things more interesting? (All it did was make me dislike Wolverine more without liking Cyke more, though.)

And oh yes - for me, AvX actually was the first "real" encounter with most of the Comicverse Avengers, and suffice it to say it's put me off them completely. (Cap in particular - ugh!)

(I need more comics icons, damn. But Magneto is always appropriate for everything, right? *g*)

My main fandom all year was definitely Joss Whedon! It killed me not being able to go to Comic Con for the 10 year reunion of Firefly! And then it was even worse when I couldn't organize it to go see 'Much Ado About Nothing' have it's world premier in Toronto! ACK ( ... )

Joss definitely reminded everyone why he's so AWESOME this year. And I haven't watched Cabin yet, I have it on my computer, but am a bit of a wuss when it comes to horror films. But I doubt it could replace Avengers for me, I am, after all, a massive fan of the characters from the comics.

Heh, I read Dance With Dragons in 2011, otherwise that would have been my top book too.

I really liked the Dexter season finale-mad props to the writers for daring to go there. I just wish the overall season arc was tighter, had more Deb and Dexter interaction (we never even saw them talk about how Dexter killed Brian/Rudy), less Hannah and more Isaac.

I haven't heard about that Felicia Day project-must anticipate.

The Book of Mormon is also coming to London. If I'm allright financially, I might see it around the summer (don't expect there will be tickets sooner). The Discworld convention sounds like it would be fun.

now Todd Alcott is doing 'Xmen First Class' http://www.toddalcott.com/
"We’ve met our rich-boy, poor-boy leads, and our story will turn out to be a romance between them. Because X-Men: First Class is a love story, it is allowed two protagonists"
He TOTALLY gets it! LOL
