Job Poll

Sooo... since I don't work tomorrow I have a question. I've applied for several jobs with the school district, and I'm torn between which is less annoying and/or more ambitious and therefore productive: Going into the school physically, all dressed up proper, or staying at home in my crappy jeans and calling into the school?

What do you think?

One thing to keep in mind - if you just show up the person you need to talk to might be busy doing something else and therefore less receptive. You might consider making an appointment with them, though and then going in.

An appointment just to ask if they've started interviewing yet?

Not just for that, no, but if you wanted to talk to someone about your qualifications, or ask what they're looking for, etc. maybe.

what she said - i did that once, just showing up, and it was completely disastrous.

Call the office and check for a suitable time, and then show up. There's no harm in following through and as an interviewer, I'd remember that.

I polled everybody that I know at work that is between the ages of 24 and 29 about the South Fork thing. That is about 15 people. One knew what it was because it is a registered place in Dallas for getting married, one knew what it was because it is a place that 6 years ago they had a picnic, and one knew what it was because one of his older friends had come to town and asked about it. The other 12 gave the same blank look that I did...I think my point is proven about the age gap! Spike just says that we have our heads in the ground. I just think the phenomena was over by the time that we would remember that sort of show.
