Well guess who's giving a lecture on neuroanatomy at the next meeting? Yep. This is what I get for piping up during meetings. I have no idea what to talk about because when it comes to the brain, I could ramble on for hours. I want to tell interesting stories to help people connect the structure with it's function. i want to know why you can wake up with a song stuck in your head if you havent been listening to music while you sleep

I too have wondered that. I have a book that may have the answer. I do know that your mind is at it's most active as far as insight and makes loose associations when you first wake up. This is the period of time when people usually have "ah ha!" moments. Which is probably why when you cannot figure out a problem it helps to sleep on it. So maybe you thought about something seemingly unrelated that reminded your brain of a song and that's why it was then in your head when you woke up. I will get back to you on this if I find out anything new. Thanks for the question!
