DC Comics announced today that Francis Manapul and Geoff Johns will conclude their "Adventure Comics" run with issue #6 and move on to a new ongoing Flash title. - CBR
Adventure is brand-spanking new - issue #2 comes out tomorrow. This news was added as an addendum to an interview with Francis Manapul about why the sensibilities fit him perfectly. Didio said at the Toronto convention that Johns was working on New Krypton through Adventure and setting up the new status quo for Legion. It's very sudden. This wasn't a mini; they'd announced it as an ongoing, but frankly, I think this news will kill the title. Kill it dead. The whole "following Geoff Johns" thing. Even if it doesn't die, it won't have the wonderful tone it's already established.
I was excited for All Flash, but now I'm seriously biased against it. I LOVED the first issue of Adventure - it stood out during a week when all fifteen books I read were very, very good. I'm just... severely disappointed. *sigh*
Can I share your corner? This makes me very sad. Has there been any kind of announcement as to their replacements? Like you, I suspect this may kill the title.
Can I share your corner? Yes, we can huddle together and it may be a bit warmer.
If their replacements have been announced, it hasn't been reported yet. The quote above was a "breaking news" addendum to an interview with Manapul posted earlier today. I think it would have to be a blockbuster team for the title to survive losing Johns and Manapul.
I suspect this may kill the title. *nods* I keep trying to come up with a scenario where this doesn't kill it and I just can't... I'm very sad, too. I hope it doesn't hurt my enjoyment of it tomorrow. It's hard to be excited over a lame duck.
Johns needs to settle down and just write his current projects for a while, instead of hopping around like a rabbit on meth... OMG! Yes. I ♥ your metaphor. I get less excited with each new project. Frankly, his Flash is one of the few things he's written that doesn't thrill me; in fact the last issue of Rebirth actively pissed me off, so I'm not exactly pleased with the announcement he'll be leaving Adventure for it. Especially, since Adventure's been fabulous and I don't think it'll survive a change this quick.
DC needs to cultivate some new writers, too. Agreed. Apparently, their new operating agreement with Warner, specifically emphasizes this need, so at least they're aware of it. I know I saw Didio chatting up Ivan Brandon and Steve Niles at ECCC. They've seemed to snag Eric Trautmann (thanks to Greg Rucka). They lost out big-time on Jason Aaron, though. *sigh*
what kind of workloads are Johns and Morrison carrying right now?Besides being on the official movie development committee and writing scripts for that - they are
( ... )
It's more of an annoying, "Oh not AGAIN", kind of sad more than anything else. :P Silly DC.
I'm glad it's cheering you up darling! <333 (I'm a little more excited about changing things now, our talk earlier has got me thinking thinky-thoughts. (: )
You know Ashley said it was "super-duper lame" - it made me laugh because it so closely resembled your comment. :)
Yes, exactly - annoying. Also, it's making me resent Barry Allen. First he leaves JSA for Rebirth and now Adventure for All Flash. It better have a whole heck of a lot of the Flashes I actually give a damn about, is all I'm saying. Yeah, silly DC being *teases*. Grr. I think I've moved from into the anger stage of grief.
It really is - they're all so wonderful and real and I'm trying to be coherent through my glee. I've not gotten very far - they've only just now made it to the car - stupid RL interruptions. *glares at family*
Yay! I'm glad. ♥♥♥
ETA: Oh, and I'm listening to this song and it's making me think of them.
