The only reason, I didn't get Pieter is because I specifically want him from Matt Wagner. He lives around here, so I'm sure he'll be on the guest list eventually...
I love Starman's expression in that piece; he looks so purposeful and concerned! Hee! That Rick Tyler piece by Maleev is something we've been discussing for a year or so - he's based off a giant hot-ass billboard in the mall. ;P That Jo Chen piece is my least favorite (Where's Jay's hat?) so I'm really glad other people like it!
Thank you so much for scanning and sharing all these! I think they're all fabulous, but if I have to list a few that stand out for me I'd have to say:
Obsidian by Tim Rice -I"m blown away by how much I love it. Wildcat by Steven Sadowski - Stunning, and is it bad that it reminds me of Clark Kent? Must be all that hotness. Ron Chan's Cyclone is so joyous, it's hard not to smile at it. Also, his Flash and Green Lantern drawing is beautifully done in every way.
How old is Colleen Coover? I swear, her Stargirl annd Harlequinn are so reminiscent of the style I remember Betty and Veronica being drawn in. I loved me some Archie comics when I was a kid, so I really like both of those.
The Stargirl and Cyclone by Balthazar is also a favorite. I love then energy and flirtiness of it.
What a wonderful mom you are to get pictures done especially for your kids. Such an awesome and unique present to give. I'm TOTALLY going to try and commission a few pieces at SDCC. Thanks!
I'm absolutely in love with Tim Sale's Obsidian. Seriously, like THUD.
Ha! Not bad at all that it reminds you of Clark! The first thing I thought of when I saw it was that scene in "Crusade"! Yum!
Chan's Cyclone is joyous! It's fits her perfectly, which is amazing since he wasn't familiar with the character; I think he must have read a bit of the issue we gave him for reference. I'm regretting not getting a sketch from him myself.
Colleen Coover is in her late twenties/early thirties, I think. She used to do the back-ups in X-Men First Class and most recently she did the intro to Girl Comics. I love her characterization and her style is adorable.
"Energy and flirtiness"! Yes, exactly - with a heart "because they love each other!" Balthazar's the best. Apparently he's throw's in a random sketch when you order comics directly from his siteAww, thanks. They seem to enjoy them

If I had to choose, I think I'd go with Coover's Harlequinn and Green Lantern pictures. Her work is just so playful and energetic. Runners-up would be Maleev's Hourman or Sadowski's Michael.
:D Those are all among my favorites, too. Colleen's Molly and Alan because zomg!matched-set. Also, as you say, her work is playful and energetic and just plain fun. Plus, Molly was drawn on larger paper, so she's bigger than Alan and this amuses me.
I love Maleev's Rick because 1) Alex was fun to talk to and 2) That's specifically "our" Rick from a GAP ad Ashley and I have been telling each other stories over for the past year plus.
And I've been wanting Sadowski's Michael for two years; I'm so pleased with it. He sure doesn't disappoint. :)
