SHUT UP, NATURE!!

May 10, 2006 12:33

Today being my first full day off for study leave I thought I would go downstairs and spread my stuff out on the big island in the kitchen. I mean, I have a big enough desk but since I have FIVE subjects to revise for and they all have a big pile of notes, references and a couple of text books each I'm getting a bit hacked off having to put ( Read more... )

So I take it the care bear feeling wore off then?
Good to finally meet you on Friday and sorry to hear about the mobile phone/station-missing situation. I daresay there'll be further BwB get-togethers at some point over the summer. The weather today was amazing and it turns out my decision to take this week off was a good thing. Good luck with the rest of your exams!

Mmm, yes it did. Whilst I am capable of being nice, I can't keep it up indefinitely. But, also the revision and looming exams are seriously freaking me out ( ... )

I looked into LA and balked: £400 for a return flight if you don't mind changing at NYC and getting an internal flight, plus accomodation, plus tickets to Worldcon, plus LA is one of the most expensive places on Earth to hang out. Having said that, I note that Mormont at least was going and I think more than a few of the others ( ... )

For one thing those who are going probably thought about the financial cost a long while ago. That will be an expensive trip all things considered. It'll be worth it I'm sure, but definitely something you need to start working out the cost of in advance. Besides, I'm going to British Columbia for three weeks in July and no way can I afford two trips across the world in two months! That reminds me of something actually, I'll PM you though, cos you never know.

Well, the game on Thursday 15th might be an idea. It's a 5pm kick off. England vs Trinidad & Tobago...

Sounds like a plan, especially as that's my payday! :)
Dammnit, Westeros.org is offline for the next day or two (or possibly until Monday, according to Ran, although they'll try to get it back up before then), so in-depth Lost discussion will have to wait awhile. But awesome episode. And the trailers for next week look pretty insane as well, especially the moment that called to mind a scene in the movie True Lies. Eeek. You can get both the Canadian & US trailers (they are totally different) from

Scroll down a bit and you'll see them.

Don't spoil me, man! I just can't get any of the episodes I've downloaded to play. This was never a problem with my PC but the mac won't play some avi files. Why? I have no idea. One of the other links I downloaded from came out as an excel file. WTF?

Actually Westeros being offline is probably a good thing for my revision! Although I was waiting for Fashion Police to come out with more hysterical quotes in the men/women/sex thread.

Well, I'm available for a meet-up on 15th June. I finish work at 3.30 by default, but I can always work through lunch and leave at 3. I'm pretty centrally located too. We'll worry about that closer to the time.

Huh. I naive American moment:
You mean teenagers sit around and listen to noisy R&B music with the base cranked up in England? WOW. I thought that was an annoying American teen only habit.

I have a cricket in my house. Earlier, I was watching a movie and it kept chirping and I kept having to turn up the volume over the chirping. It must be revenge because I probably ran it into the house with my mowing earlier.
Hmmm. Revenge of nature!

We keep crickets for feeding some of the reptiles that live in the back room of our office at work. You forget they are there as they shut up while you are making a noise. It's only when you are silent (working, some might call that) that they pipe up. They're hard to catch. ;)
