I don't understand Damon. People tell me that he's a complex character and tonight, I finally got it, but he's fucked up. I feel like that's his thing. He's the fucked up, older brother and concepts such as redemption go completely over his head. I feel like Angel DID it better with this whole "poor, tortured me" act. No. I mean in general. She's killed at least 3 people in this episode and one while human. I don't like her. It also doesn't help that I wasn't very fond of this actress when she was on One Tree Hill.

Bonnie totally handles pain and loss better than Damon does. You see? This is where people indulging him and giving him passes have gotten him. I feel like this is still part of the Katherine thing. He wanted to become a vampire. He was hot for it. He definitely enjoyed it last season. But now his reason for turning never cared about him in the first place, and since she was so prominent in everything he did, he feels like his existence is pointless. I keep going back to the Katherine thing because the writers brushed over the impact of what she said to him way to quickly in order to jump on this DE thing and Damon being in love with Elena.

I honestly feel like Damon's all over the place. I felt like they should have just tried to establish him as a twisted character before they mucked him up with his feelings for Elena. I mean we're only in the first half of the second season and already he's in love with her. It's just too much. With everything that Katherine's put him through, piled with his own guilt, and then feeling alone because he can't have Elena, it's like, of course you feel like shit. But killing people isn't gonna make there better. I don't know. I not a big Damon fan so maybe I can't sympathize with him.
