The Mayor's Response to me!
Hello all! You might remember that I put my letter to the mayor on here... well, here is her reply. See, we CAN make a difference. I'm not, by any stretch, that was it was all because of me, I know lots of people probably wrote in independent of even knowing who I am or that I did... however, we need to take our victories where we can!
Dear Jeff:
Thank you for your message regarding the tragedy in south Asia. I want
to let you know that I have e-mailed each member of Council with a
request that they support an immediated $10,000 donation to the Red
Cross for relief in this distressed area. I have not yet heard from all
of them, but those I have heard from are supportive. I will call the
others tomorrow to get their concurrence. Certainly, this community was
the receipient of much generosity on the part of others last July in a
situation at in no way compares to the one the world is facing now.
I have been into the Red Cross office here, and know that there has
been a tremendous individual response from out citizens, some calling
from as far away as Britain to donate.
