Tonight I may have seen and heard the Platonic ideal of Concert.

My family and I were up in Louisville to see the Derby City Chorus sing. Also on stage were the Bluegrass Student Union, Four Voices, and the Voices of Lee. The Derby City Chorus are undefeated International Champions of the Women's Division in the Harmony Society. Bluegrass Student Union is a barbershop quartet who won the International Championship 30 years ago. Four Voices won in 2002. The Voices of Lee are Lee University's student choir. The guys in Four Voices were some of the original members of the Voices of Lee 10 years ago.

From hearing recordings, I had thought the Voices of Lee were a 50-100 member chorus, and have said so to people. Tonight I learned there are only 16 of them. I don't know if I've seen a better group than this, and that includes Chanticleer, the King's Singers, and the Netherlands Chamber Choir. If you ever get the chance, have me play for you the song "All Rise". It's the song the Voices of Lee and the Four Voices do together every time their within shouting distance. Then, you might have some idea of what I'm talking about. There is no other way for me to describe it.

None.
