The economy finally caught up to me on Friday and I got laid off from the best job I've ever had. They were relatively nice about it, at least, saying that it had nothing to do with my performance, they had directives from up on high to cut X people, I was the most junior person in my department, their hands were tied, blah blah blah ( Read more... )

I hear good things about Japan and South Korea - just beware of living life in a society where you will stand out like a sore thumb among conformists.

Dartmouth has an english as a second language teaching program. I'm sure someone there could give you some ideas about how to go about it.

oh dear, i'm really sorry about the job...

on the teaching english abroad thing: i know you'll probably be a good english teacher, but too many people seem to use those programmes as a way to travel, and forget that it's a job as well - a job with customers (often, little kids!) whose education is at stake... the thing to do is find a reputable programme where you know you'll get lots of solid training.
