Think i'm over it.

Not totally, I'll probably still watch matches if it's convenient (specifally Roger's) but no more rearranging plans, score board following, 3am AO semis, reading articles, and definitely no more forums. The latter used to add to my enjoyment of the sport, most people seemed to be their to learn and share about the game, the players, each other..even the trolls were funny or at least original. Now all the interesting posters worth interacting with rarely or never post anymore, and all the 'fans' are either bandwaggoners or haters. Unfortunately, these sites now seem overrun with self rightous, mean spirited, racist, mysogynistic, homophobic, sycophantic, phoney, redundant, arrogant know-it-alls, shit stirrers and gamblers committed to taunting and impressing you with their imagined superiority. The official fan forum is just the other end of that spectrum where any attempt to analyze or critique Roger's game is squashed because you can't possibly be a true fan(whatever that is) unless you write love letters to him in every post and/or repeat his cv ad nauseum in response to anything that isn't fawning. Which is a real shame because messageboards were the only way for me to connect with other tennis/Roger fans since everyone in my life thinks it's the most boring thing ever.

All this was brought on by yesterday obviously, and that the fact this loss really burns and a big part of that disappointment, apart from the match itself and the outcome, is from all the media, critics, forums, commentators talking out their asses that I've exposed myself to, which have been especially aggravating this year. So from now on I'm going back to watching Roger's matches when I can and celebrating his wins and mourning his losses without all the added...noise, that sours the sweet and makes the bitter that much harder to swallow.

Don't know where I stand with writing slash aside from trying to finish the series of fics I've already started for the interest of those who were nice enough to read and/or comment and care how they end, because you kind of have to read articles and such to fuel ideas, and I honestly have no desire to wade through the irresponsible and hurtful bs that's being written.
