Tell me what you think...

'68 Mustang. 302 engine (can't see what it looks like, since i broke the hood release handle), loud and deep V8 muscle car sounding exhaust. Manual Steering, Maual Breaks, needs some work done to it, and the whole car just shakes while it's idleing, and even more at speed. Greatest shakiness between 65-70 mph. didn't take ( Read more... )

hi. one of april's friends. sexy car. i drive a '92 myself, but god if i could get at a late 60s mustang... i'd finally have the motivation to learn more than just the super basic stuff about cars. my grandfather owns a 68 convertible, and that thing is soooo awesome.

my dad is obssessed with mustangs. he's concentrating the most on the 84-94 "fox" body ones though, i think mostly because they're cheap right now. i drive a 92, i think my brother's is a 91 or 90, my dad's is probably a 90. he also has his "show car" which i think is a 91, a non-running parts car, and the evil possessed car Christine (all 3 of us have wrecked it.) we had a blue 90 but my brother accidentally rear ended a truck in it.

that looks like a freaking beautiful paint job, too. unf. that car rules.

well, i don't own it yet. i feel a little uncomfortable with how much it shakes and shimmies, and with all the work i'd have to do to it initially: fixing headlamps, fixing the window so I can close it, fixing the hood release handle so i could get to the engine.... and on my test drive, as soon as i got it to 70mph, i backed off. I mean the AWACS in turbulence doesn't shake like that thing does.

for the paint, well, i was going to repaint it...black with silver stripes.

love your userpic, quintin tarentino rocks

i sincerely doubt this will be of any help to you because of the difference in models - but mine used to shake like crazy once i hit 65 or so, and most of the problem was because i needed a wheel alignment. it still shakes a little sometimes, i think it's just characteristic of my baby, but just some food for thought i guess.

if were you i'd definitely want a look under the hood before i bought it though. maybe try talking to the owner about fixing the hood release just for that purpose??

and thanks. ;)
