She hovered over the house on a large block of ice, staring down at it, curious if the person she wanted to see was home. While she had been stuck at the manor under Silvermane's care, Terra had been nice enough to visit her after the fight with Thirst, and Ophelia enjoyed seeing her other friends. But Lightning... she didn't tell him she was back ( Read more... )

There wasn't an answer for Ophelia at first. Lightning was busy feeding his dog, Panda. He expected the person at the door to be Duela. Since their last talk, the two have become good friends, and he rather enjoyed her company. After all, Lightning doesn't have a lot of friends. And the most important one had mysteriously vanished out of his life.

After placing the food down on the floor, he went to the door and opened it. The usual grin vanished when he saw who it was.

And, probably for the first time in his life, Lightning didn't say anything.

She stood outside, kind of looking at her surroundings, refamiliarizing herself with the area around his house...

Oh. Door opened. Oh oh.. Can't breath. She just.. kind of stares at him. She looks worried! Has he recognized me already? Is he staring at my scales? she thought to herself.

She gulped. "...Hi, Lightning." Hesitantly, she pulled down her hood, exposing her scale-covered hands as she did so, as well as her scaly cheeks and not-blue-anymore hair. She looked down, suddenly feeling very, very awkward.

Uh, wow.

You want to talk about awkward? Try having your almost-girlfriend appear at the doorway, after disappearing for a few months, revealing that she now has scales!

Lightning stared at her even more now, but his facial expression remained the same. When he finally spoke, an astounded (and slightly annoyed) expression went along with it. "I take it you were busy," he said, his tone strangely calm. Ophelia should be careful; that could change at any moment.

Ouch. Uh. She frowned a bit at that. "I... suppose you could say that," she frowned. "I... I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner.. or call or anything.. I just.." Ophelia hung her head a bit, unable to look at him, because she couldn't come up with an excuse, but she didn't want to tell him the truth, either. But silence wouldn't help her, and it would probably only make him angry. "I was scared to see you for awhile."
