Sycamore

There is this completely awesome sycamore tree that I pass on my way from my apartment to Northampton. I have loved this tree from the moment I saw it, and I've wanted to photograph it properly for some time. I have snapped pictures of it before, but with an awful camera - the pictures never came out quite right. I suppose, in a way, photographing ( Read more... )

Yes... as I commented on G+, I LOVE the second one! A different perspective, maybe, whatever, but this totally captures the detail in the tree while also silhouetting it. Absolutely lovely.

Yeah, I like that one best, too. I think because of the angle of light and the exposure. :)

Keep circling counter clockwise around the tree and set the camera up a bit lower. That should silhouette t he tree better...

I was actually hoping for less silhouette and more illumination on the tree. The setting sun was behind me, but the clouds were building up a bit, so I'll need to try that again. :) But, yes, I did think of silhouetting with the sun behind the tree! Just didn't have enough time. :)

Slightly different thought...

Remove the scrub trees from the lower branches by shooting closer to the ground and using the open sky as the backdrop
