I'm puzzled and torn between two loves.

I'm trying to get pregnant and have a baby.
Does smoking weed really have any affect on a baby?

I mean, I don't consider weed a drug, really. It's just a plant.

I would love to try to concieve and also keep smoking bud.

If you want a healthy baby, I would think you'd have to quit smoking weed, cigarettes and also drinking. Smoking anything cuts off the baby's blood supply and deprives them of oxygen.

my mom and i both smoke pot. she has told me several times that she smoked pot while she was pregnant, but she said that she did it in moderation, because she couldn't give up her habit and she still wanted me to be healthy. cigarettes are bad for babies, that we know. but to be honest, i would still smoke pot.

here's why:

my friends just had a baby. and she smoked HEAVILY through her entire pregnancy. i mean at least an ounce every week. BY HERSELF. because her husband couldnt smoke because of his job.
the baby is perfectly healthy.. beautiful.. and amazing.
shes not very old.. i doubt shes even two years yet and shes already talking and reading and shit. its insane. i was extremely worried when i found out what she was doing but apparently it didnt make a difference because the baby is perfect and it helped her with her morning sickness.

I have talked to people who smoked while pregnant and after, and not one said it had any bad effect on their baby. In fact all of them said their babies have been advanced for their ages.
