This Week in Cheese and Sinus Infections
I went to Columbus last weekend and saw most of the people I was hoping to. Drove a lot and enjoyed the new car.
Friday night: Got ears stretched more. Went to Buckeye Donuts with Alana and was sorely disappointed. Met up with Holly and Josh at Skeletonwitch show. Donnie and Andrew came, after my dogs escaped from their kennels and were running amok in their house. Sarah showed up and managed to slam her head into my throbbing earlobe. Angie showed up with her new girlfriend. Bizarre to think of her as a divorcee. Smoke outside before band starts, buy a shirt with skull and antlers. Drunkenly ate craploads of spicy pizza with Donnie, Andrew, Alana and Sarah.
Saturday: Alana came over in the morning to play with dogs. Jen arrived. Stopped by campus and bought some records (Girlschool, Coven, Blonde Redhead and something else I can't remember.) Went to eat a burger at my favorite burger place in the Short North, only to find it's not so good anymore and the Short North is suddenly less gay and more for graduated frat dudes. Meredith arrives with tales of the country and buys a shopping bag full of weed. Picked up Alana from work, went to see Sarah at work, drank more, mostly a bummer, dropped Alana off and went and devoured more spicy pizza with Donnie.
Sunday: Union brunch with Angie, girlfriend, John, girlfriend and Sarah. Surprised to find Sarah eating meat these days. Visited my favorite comic book store only to find it had been taken over by a corporate congolmerate and eradicated back issues. Sarah decides to ditch work to hang, I email her boss for her and we go back to the house, smoke, and hang with dogs. Harper goes for a swim in the pool. Once high all four of us former vegetarians decide we require steak. Then I dropped Sarah off, picked up Alana to play with dogs, and later drop her off again. Decide to stay in and watch movies with Donnie.
Monday: Go to get tattoo from Alana, decide it requires more work, end up abducting Sarah from work, have coffee, then proceed to Schmidt's Sausage Haus with Alana and gorge on kraut and mustard. Drop Alana off, cry some, visit Donnie at work, pack up the dogs and head home. Acquire sinus infection.
Tuesday: sick, go home from work early, lots watch of tv under blanket on couch. Rachel brings me grilled cheese and soup.
Wednesday: Repeat. Find neighbor's dog running loose again in the freezing rain, neighbor nowhere to be found.
Thursday: Work half day, grade assignments, tearfully drop puppy off at animal shelter, go teach class, realize I have forgotten wallet and trek back to the East side, then back to the West side again for dinner at Flying Fig with Eric. Share several small plates and entrees including: rabbit ricotta gnocci, herbed flatbread, corn bisque, beef carpaccio, short ribs in a pilsner reduction with horseradish mashed potatoes, duck confit, then both fig and peach ice cream. Then to Skeletonwitch again, this time buy shirt with skull and ram horns.
Today: Planning on napping and busting out the slow cooker.
