For those of you who wonder why I've been offline for over two weeks, a virus caused massive damage to my old PC; even the technicians at GeekSquad couldn't reinstall my system files well enough to get basic programs back.  (Never mind the Internet; the machine couldn't even recognize my [expletive deleted] video or sound cards!)
