England finished the day on 319 for 7. The first hour was going well for England, but in the hour before lunch they lost three wickets, and another not half an hour after the resumption of play. However, this was followed by a fifth-wicket stand of a 143. The following hour cost England another three wickets. A marvelous century for Strauss made England's day -- five wickets for Warne made Australia's.

FOW at 82, 102, 104, 131, 274, 289, 297.

The match is balanced nicely.

Today, England reached 373 all out, and Australia scored 112 without loss before bad light stopped play at teatime.
