Despite my lingering head cold, it was a fun and active weekend.  Saturday evening, I had some friends over to watch Dark Star, John Carpenter's first film (it started out as his film-school project before being remade as a feature film).  Dark Star is a wonderfully bleak comedy about four bitter, bored astronauts who've spent far too many years ( Read more... )

I think the first time I saw this was a midnight show at the State Theater in Ann Arbor, Michigan in about 1981.

Echoing the previous comment about the bomb with an attitude: Do we *really* want artificial intelligence? What if when you hit ctrl-alt-del the computer came back and said "dude, this didn't work last time, can you knock it off now?"

I've only seen that Movie once, in a Theatre, in 1984. One of the few times it played at the KEN, then abducted by friends to go to the Strand and see Terminator ONE MORE TIME.

A film I only knew via infamous reputation as a kid and Alan Dean Foster's adapation, whic was actually a whole lot better than the flick. And the foto-inset in that adapation was better than the movie!
