A few months ago, I was commenting that I don't actually hate the Olympics; I just hate the way that apparently nothing (Celticfest; my job; Parliament) can coexist with them. I was just going to ask what it was like for you to be living in Vancouver during the games. Good to have this update.

On a related note, did you see the fiddling during the opening ceremony? It surprised me... Is folk music bigger in Canada than the US, at least as an identity thing?

Celtic music is quite popular in the Atlantic provinces, where just about everyone is of Celtic descent. Ashley MacIsaac is something of a legend in Canada - he's responsible for making the fiddle cool, back in the 90's. Celtic is less popular here, but I still manage to get out to 2-3 Celtic jam sessions per week.

Not sure, but the 3 female fiddlers were Samantha Robichaud, April Verch, and Sierra Noble.
