Hm, you'd think that if one was going to be "select one" and another was going to be "select as many as you want", it ought to be the other way around.

That was my feeling too. Insofar as mutual exclusivity is a spectrum, religion is moreso than ethnicity.

Surveys that are badly designed to allow the entry of weirdly impossible data make me want to do so just to spite them.

I resent surveys that ask me to describe myself using only one race or ethnicity. If they don't want to deal with the fact that race can be more complicated than that, then maybe they shouldn't ask about it at all.

Yup. Not to mention, it's just a matter of times before "purebreds" are in the minority - if they're not already.
