Somewhat late, I'd like to open a discussion about what we'd like to see at the filksing this upcoming Icon (October 14-18th), and what the con-comm want to see ( Read more... )

I vote for persephone_il as well, if she's willing to manage.I'm also all for a later circle and announcing it at the end of the room event- something along the lines of "if you liked this we'll be having a free filk gathering at [time] in [place] and would love to see y'all"

Thanks... I guess.

Yeah, I'll take the thing over if no one objects.

Gee, you really have a way with words, Gills joshbrown June 14 2008, 18:56:54 UTC
All that with proper sound equipment, words shown on a screen, in a real room- all things Icon 'sings haven't had in a while.

Well, I am sorry that I have failed you all and have provided such terrible filksings at ICon these last few years. After all, it has always been my fault that the filksings have been the way they have. After all, the concom has always been easy to work with and have always provided us with whatever we wanted. And since I never asked anyone ever for help or for advice or suggestions as to what songs to put in the songbook, it all really boils down to the simple fact that it is all my fault.

And you seem to have a way with misinterpreting them. lovechilde June 14 2008, 19:03:24 UTC
Have I ever said in any way that it was your fault? Well, it isn't, ok? This year, if we want something that won't end up in a pissed off organizer feeling like he or she were wronged and tripped up every step of the way, we're going to have to bend the ideals a little. It's a simple as that. 'Sings at previous Icons were good, except for your ending up feeling like no event organizer should, but if we want greater exposure, we'll have to think different this year.

That's all. Any attack, personal or otherwise, is entirely in your head.

Dude, no one said it was you fault. persephone_il June 14 2008, 20:30:13 UTC
It's just that the concept we've been using for filksings up till now failed to be good for the local audience.
