I like that idea!

I've got an injury in my back from working at Wal-Mart years ago that was never treated. My boss told me I couldn't report it for some reason or other and I was too shy and nervous to stand up to her ... plus, she was the boss.. I didn't know I *could* report it after I was told not to.

I am nor sure the actual law in the states, or the exact law in Ontario (it is civil law so it differs from province to province or state to state) but they are not allowed to do that. you have a right to a safe workplace and to workman's compensation if you are injured on the job. The reason that some companies / workplaces persuade you not to report injuries is that they can get fined and or have their premiums increased (i.e. they have to pay more money to the insurance board)

Oh, I had the right to a safe workplace and comp and everything... but I didn't know that. I do now, but it's way too late.

That's a good one. I would also add: how to do your taxes (my parents never bothered to teach me how to do mine), and how to write a cover letter and a resume.

interesting, that is fair enough. you are assuming that one parent's understand enough to be able to do their own taxes. No offense. not everyone can. so you are right that school should teach it.
