Unhelpful template responses drive me bonkers. I am always very specific about what my problem is, and to get one of those C/P piece of shit makes me livid.

But tbh, I am secretly pleased that Tumblr is pissing so many people off, because maybe it'll make LJ the happenin' place to be again.

I agree. There's a certain quality of "we don't care" that has to go into any 2-line support reply to a detailed 8-line complaint ( ... )

Tumblr is only fun if you want to look at pretty pictures and not talk to anyone, IMO. I much prefer the LJ way of doing things and feel weird that lots of people do Tumblr only rather than Tumblr as a supplement. It seems so empty!

If DW and LJ also had a "like" button and easier file uploads, that would pretty much replace most of the functionality that Tumblr offers. I mean, sometimes I like not talking when I don't feel like it. And sometimes I like pretty pictures. But I shouldn't have to choose between these options and the ability to talk to someone.

I hate to say this, but I think Tumblr is the new Blogger. Someone will come along within about 18 months and do everything they do, only better and with customer support (and a business model), and there will be a rapid mass exodus.

D: That is really supremely sucky. Kudos to you for calling them out on it!

Thanks! Right now the #support tag is full of people begging for help and not getting it. The support email address isn't even publicized on the help page. I have a very bad feeling about the stability and long-term survival of this company, especially since the business model is non-obvious.

I hope more people will be honest about their experiences!

Yeah, have not really known anyone to say a good word about support, and definitely have never found the tags to actually show every post in that tag. Posts disappear from the search or never show up in it; it's like a mystery grab bag of which posts appear. Not to totally badmouth Tumblr--I've had mine for almost four years, so obviously I'm somewhat of a fan. But it's definitely not a one size fits all kind of platform. Sorry you had to go through that frustrating, unproductive exchange with their support, ugh.

Thanks, sweetie. *hugs* I mostly just wish they had better form letters, you know? It's definitely a buggy system, and they have to know that, so I guess it is what it is.

I wish there was a site that made it easy to embed images and audio files that was searchable across everyone's tags like that, but that also made it easier to talk to each other. That was my other pet peeve there - conversation was just so clunky. Oh well! It is what it is.
