[Mokuren is in her front yard, kneeling next to the young oak tree, with her ear to its trunk, muttering. She hasn't even bothered to get dressed this morning, and she's getting grass stains on her white nightgown. She looks haggard, as if she hasn't gotten enough sleep. She hits the tree once with her fist, as if that might get a reaction out of ( Read more... )

[Awww, poor girl...Ken happened to be walking down the sidewalk when he sees her.]

Hey! Hey...what's wrong?

[Mokuren dries her tears, feeling somewhat ashamed of the scene she's making. As distressed as she is, Ken's question is a reminder that she's in public, and it doesn't do to be so vulnerable where everyone can see you.]

Oh, I, I'm sorry if I disturbed you. [She forces a smile.] I'll be okay.

Don't worry, you didn't disturb me. [He comes over and sits down beside her] I haven't seen you around. Are you new here? [Don't worry Mokuren, Ken's not a creeper. He's just helpful and genuinely likes people to be happy.]

[Being an unfeeling bitch is one of Viktoria's best skills, sorry Mokuren.]

However you heard them before, our captors have taken it away from you now. And even if you could hear them, they have nothing to say. Everything here is dead.

It is... unsettling.

[...But she's also not terribly happy with being unable to communicate with nature, either, as you might be able to tell from the slight twinge of remorse in her voice.]

[That's okay, most Kiches are unfeeling bitches, Mokuren's used to it by now. Or so she tells herself. She's not going to give this person the satisfaction of getting a reaction out of her, though.]

I can't believe that they're dead.
