Here,
here (you may want to take a look at Yasu’s article too), and
here.
Affiliation: Breeder. (I’m all for making Lion a Coordinator if the chance ever arises!)
Personality:
Chosen by Kinzo as the heir for the Ushiromiya family, Lion is a polite and soft-spoken youth, who is well liked by all the family and pretty much everyone else. Lion will treat everyone with that same politeness and respect, but will expect the same of those around.
Lion works hard to keep promises made to others, and is naturally a kind-hearted person.
Lion has shown a great ability to adapt to strange situations. When chosen by Bernkastel to act as Will’s “Watson”, and when observing demonstrations of supernatural forces acting in the world around, or even when learning the truth behind the birth of Lion/Yasu and Beatrice, Lion was surprised and very affected, but quick to assume them as reality once proof was presented.
Lion was also ready to obtain and accept the knowledge of Beatrice’s actions in the different fragments, showing a surprisingly fast recovery after having all the information inserted directly on the brain, and even being able to keep a sense of self.
Gender is a tricky issue. During the whole seventh game, everyone avoids mentioning Lion’s gender, and the androgynous appearance Lion has only contributes to this. When Will asks about it, Lion says that when getting that question the answer is always “Which do you think I look like?”
By the end of the story we do not have a confirmation of Lion’s gender. According to Will Lion could either be a “no nonsense girl” or a “fairly slender boy”.
Lion also made a promise to Clair, on the end of her tale. A promise to live happily for the sake of all the Beatrices of all other Fragments. After discovering what really happened in Rokkenjima, and the fact that the end of the story would not change no matter the Fragment it happened in, Lion accepted this as a reality. With Will’s help, the promise became a driving force behind many of Lion’s choices and actions, including the choice of hoping for a miracle even if it was sure that such a thing would not happen.
However if we want to get into serious stuff, we should talk about Lion’s fondness of pinching the butts of the people who are assessed as being rude. This is not limited to a specific gender, and apparently is also not limited to familiar people, as Lion has repeatedly buttpinched Will whenever he was being too harsh when speaking, even just moments after they met.
This shows that Lion also has a bit of a playful side, which can be clearly seen in the interactions with both Will and Jessica.
Strengths/Weaknesses:
Lion’s social skills are shown as being top notch. Lion was named Student Council president in both middle and high school, and was also the captain of the badminton team, showing at least decent physical capabilities.
Lion takes the responsibility of being the next family Head very seriously, and will always want to behave in a proper way, and want the ones around to be proper too. That leads Lion to be sometimes too critical about others’ behaviors, and of course to many buttpinches.
Lion is smart and kind, and usually comes out as being perfect in every sense. It is said in game that this may be a bad thing, as it may and does cause some conflict around it.
Lion is quick to form concepts of other people, and most times is correct on the assessments, but this may play against Lion’s interests when someone is not exactly what it seems. Because of what happened at the end of the story, Lion will always try to keep the hopes up, and will always try to have a positive outlook in all situations.
As mentioned before, gender is a bit of a sore spot. Lion does not react well to being asked about it, and has grown used to just let people wonder about it.
In short:
+ Good social skills.
+ Polite and well mannered, will always try to behave with the dignity of a well raised rich person.
+ Works hard on keeping promises made, and to meet others’ expectations.
+ Will try to help others whenever possible.
+ Decent or above average physical capabilities.
+- Family is very important for Lion, this can become both a strength and a weakness
- Can be far too critical regarding others’ behaviors. May even come out as a little abrasive.
- May come off as “too perfect”, this may lead to conflicts.
- Don’t ask if Lion is a he or a she. Just don’t.
- May be too fast to form concepts about other people. On the good side, those concepts are not set in stone.
Pokemon

Samples
(Please note that both samples must take place in Route_29’s setting.)
First Person Sample:
[When the video turns on, Lion can be seen sitting on the side of Route 29, with the Trainer’s Handbook in hand. The pages are moving pretty quickly, but it is clear that Lion is reading it and not just skimming trough it.
The camera is moving a little, as if put in an unsteady surface, and slowly getting closer. A murmur, that may sound like “di di” is heard but the sound comes from off camera. Lion lifts the head from the booklet, and sighs. With a quick movement and a frown, Lion takes the PokéGear from the pokémon’s “hands” and puts it on the grass. The Ditto and the lower half of Lion’s body can now be seen in a bit of a crooked perspective.] You shouldn’t be inspecting other’s belongings, Ditto.
[Lion stares at the pokémon for a short while, thinking of something, and then shrugs. The Ditto squeaks as Lion gives its backside a pinch.] I suppose this will have to do. No more doing this without permission, understood?
Ditto...
[Lion nods, accepting the Ditto’s apology and looks at the PokéGear.] Ah, it’s turned on... [It takes a short moment, but Lion finds the button combination to turn the video off, and the feed ends.]
Third Person Sample:
When Lion woke up on the bed in that unknown house, the first coherent thought had taken the form of ‘I am still alive after all’. Lion had then sat on the bed and looked around several times, wondering if maybe Will had made it out too, but to no avail.
What happened later was a flurry of things that made no sense at all, but Lion was not going to complain about being somehow alive, even if the madness seemed to be a consequence of that. Getting up from the bed, getting a backpack handed by some lady claiming to be Lion’s mother and then pretty much getting kicked out of the house for being late to somewhere without getting even a chance to explain that she had mistaken someone else for her child. Lion could easily tell she wasn’t either Natsuhi nor Lion’s real mother, but in the end still played the part of a good child so she would not feel disappointed.
Lion waited a little, to see if maybe the real child of the lady appeared, but nothing happened. Lion had known all along that waiting was most likely pointless, but still tried, just in case... By now it was pretty obvious that this place was not normal at all.
Later, as Lion was checking the contents of the backpack, the PokéGear started ranting by itself but at this point nothing was really surprising. All right, maybe the purple modeling-clay animal got a few stares before getting accepted along with the rest of the place, but things had stopped being shocking a while ago.
As Lion walked to the outskirts of the town, with Ditto on tow and looking for a comfortable place to sit and read the Handbooks found inside the backpack, many new thoughts arrived...
This place was far away from the life Lion knew. Away from the Ushiromiya family, and from Rokkenjima, which was a little sad in a way, but also away from those who wanted to stop Lion from fulfilling that important promise.
Maybe, even if everything was a little twisted, this was the Miracle they had hoped for...
