Am I going about everything wrong?... everyone tells me I need to work harder in school so I have something to fall back on, but no one really believes me when I tell them theres nothing else I want to do

Gavin- I'm a friend of lisa's and i've been reading your journal lately just cause i've seen you post comments on hers. I feel compelled to give you a little encouragement. Your music sounds amazing and i greatly respect people like yourself who have such an appreciation for music. Don't give up dreamin man. people like you make the world go round. I can see your point about people leaving their goals and dreams behind. I do think having something to fall back on does not necessarily mean that they are giving up though..for me it's almost like an encouragement to fully go out there and pursue my goals knowing that i can give it my all because no matter what i have something to fall back on. i don't know..everybody is different. sorry this is so random! don't give up. -Mary
I think you would be miserable trying to achieve the goals your family has set for you. Being an idealist isn't always bad...especially for you because I believe you are prepared to struggle through the time it takes to become noticed. I understand what you mean when you say "something to fall back on" and settling for less than what you want...but if you are thinking of people such as myself, we are unsure what we want to do in life, we just want to be happy. That is why I would have a minor in something not related with the major.
Anywho...I know it is hard to not listen to what everybody says about you not having a job, but you are one in a million and I think you can do whatever you want to. Corny I know, but that is how I feel. :)
i think you misunderstood me when i was talking to you about this subject a few weeks ago.
I think when you get a minor in something in college it should be something that is directly related to your major just to further your education on the subject..(this is what you say)
my minor is in english, and i plan to major in journalism. i think that minoring in english will help me with journalism. i'm not necessarily "falling back on english", i think it will just help in the long run.
Who ever said you’re destined for so little? Greatest can come in little packages, you might not see it because it's not been reviled to you yet. Only God knows. Only he can tell you your truth. Ask him. Go to him. He won't let you down. One of the most terrible things to do in live is to let your strength fade away. Bring it back. You have to have hope in yourself if you want to live a brilliant life. You have many journeys to travel, don't let them get the best of you when you just begin.
