Name: Alice Duchesne
Nicknames: Al, Allie/Ally
Age: 19
Birth Date: June 24th, 1991
Home Town: Montreal, Quebec
Occupation: Student at Liberty University (majoring in teaching), employee at Raisfield Boutique
Residential Area: One of the smaller homes of New Brampton
Family: John Duchesne (father), Mary Duchesne (mother), Alfred F. Jones and Matthew Williams (cousins)
First Impression: “Oh, she’s rather pretty-er, excuse me!?”
1. Alfred: Alice doesn’t like him. It’s not just his bright, annoying loud personality that grinds on her nerves, but also because he had a habit of taking her favorite stuff and ruining it whenever he visited (which was never very often, thankfully). One incident that stands out in her mind is the time when she had just gotten a new dress and was showing it off to her aunt and uncle when Alfred (accidentally) tripped her and it ended up ripping. The end result was that Alice beat him until Alfred had ran out of the house and her parents had successfully locked her into her room. To this day, she still hasn’t entirely forgiven him.
2. Matthew: Alice both adores and tolerates Matthew. His polite, almost gentleman personality is cause for her to admire him. At the same time, she is irritated to no end by his quiet, timid self and hates it when he refuses to speak up or voice his own opinion. When they’re alone together she’ll be friendly and dote on him, but when they’re out in public, she’ll purposefully make herself stand out from him.
3. Francis: When Alice was fifteen, she gained and took the opportunity to travel as an exchange student to France. When she arrived, she found herself being hosted by none other than the Bonnefoy. She couldn’t help but be attracted to the “charming” Francis Bonnefoy heir and tended to follow him around in the house at times with love notes clutched in hand. She never gave them to him though, and never got past the blushing and stammering part. In the end, she went home still crushing heavily on him.
4. French Superiority Complex: It might be because she’s just nationalistic, or it might be because her time as an exchange student in France, but Alice considers the French culture to be “the best of the best”. Following the Quebec trend, she puts her French heritage faaaar over her English one. She advocates French supremacy when the chance arises, and snorts at those weirdo French-haters.
5. French-Canadian Language: Her French is just fine no matter what Francis (or any other French speaking person) says, thank you. Yes, it may be a bit difficult to understand because of her accident, and okay, maybe Quebec changed a few words, but it’s perfectly good. Honest. Don’t give her that look, you uppity Americans who’ve taken French class.
6.
Je me souviens = “I Remember”: Alice has a near perfect memory, and can almost recall any moment in her life upon being inquired about it. Sometimes it’s a blessing for her when needing to recall where she put the car keys or when trying to remember the answer to a test question. Most of the time though, she dislikes having such a good memory because it’s not very difficult for her to look back and remember an embarrassing or emotionally damaging situation.
7. Fiery Attitude; Don’t mess with her, ever: At a glance, Alice seems to be the perfect example of beautiful young woman. It doesn’t take much to remove that façade, though. She almost skips the mildly annoyed stage entirely to jump right onto the platform of ‘infuriated’. She won’t hesitate or hold back to cuss someone out in French Canadian, or even slap them (the latter requires truly being able to rile her up).
8. Speaking Out: If Alice doesn’t like something, she will let you know. Loudly. In an annoying way. And maybe with a few swear words mixed in. It’s not just that she wants to stand out, but she also doesn’t want to be forced into something she thinks won’t work or is dumb. If someone voices their opinion, she’ll throw hers into the hat as well. She makes her thoughts known, and she does it with pride.
9. Strange Tastes: Alice has an odd choice in foods (and maybe humor, because she has a jar of “beaver tails” to offer as a treat to her guests). Maybe she got it from her English grandfather, but Alice enjoys eating a variety of things that most others wouldn’t even sample. The eating habit that really turns people away is her need for all things maple in whatever she eats. She dumps an alarming amount onto almost every dish set in front of her before she’s willing to eat it.
10. Ezreal, the Snowy Owl: With the aid of her wildlife expert mother, Alice managed to obtain a license to legally own a snowy owl. Quickly snatching up the nearest one that had been recently rescued, Alice proudly took home the snowy Owl now known as Ezreal. Unable to fly due to an accident, Alice lets him roam freely around the room he’s kept in and will proudly display him to visitors. She adores Ezreal more than she does Matt - and she may be the only person that Ezreal won’t try to nip.
SECRET
Alice is scared that one day, her wanting to be different will set her outside society’s standards and she’ll no longer be accepted by the public. Yes, she wants to be individual, but sometimes it drives people away from her. Her biggest desire is to have at least one person who truly accepts her for who she is.
