I had my doubts whether I should write anything about this because technically it's not a TV-series and I don't do book reviews here (or anywhere, to be honest). Then again, I didn't read The Diary of a Nobody as a book. I listened to the two-part BBC radio adaptation during a three-hour bus trip a week and a half ago. Since it does feature Andrew

I was trying to think of how I would describe Gower's voice and I was thinking a bit nasal, maybe, and a slight hint of a lisp, but mostly the word that I keep coming back to is 'droll' though I'm not sure if it's actually the word I'm looking for, and since I haven't seen Gower in any of his other roles (I assume I saw him on Misfits, but don't specifically remember him) that might be a word more specific to his characterization of Cutler than to Andrew Gower in general, I'm not sure. Either way, it's definitely a distinctive voice, which yeah, could be good or bad depending on how you use it. Also, based just on that youtube clip, I also vote for more singing!

Andrew only sings two songs in Wedding, but they're beautiful)) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQaPbU3_9ic <-- I love this one; I used to listen to it a lot during my early days of writing Hal/Cutler XDDDD Then there's also his band, Emerson, which is nice but has too few songs imho. They need new ones. T_T LOL, he and Damien should star in a musical XD Preferably televised so we all could see it. XD

Like you, when I first heard AG's voice I found it quite irritating. (That was my initial reaction to Cutler as well. We didn't know how good we had it, did we? LOL) Whatever else you might say about his voice, it's certainly distinctive, and it does seem to go hand in hand with his physical mannerisms. Maybe he needs to tone them both down a bit. IDEK
There is one role that immediately sprung to mind when I read your question: I'd like to hear him read Poe's Tell-Tale Heart. It's basically a monologue, so it's tailor-made for being narrated. And I think AG's quirkiness would really work in that role.

I didn't like the book much either. I don't think I would have listened to it at all if not for that bus ride XD But AG is funny there. As much as he can be, given the dull story.
Maybe he needs to tone them both down a bit. But they make him cuuute XD
Ooh, I don't think I've read that actually. But it would be cool if AG did an audiobook, yes! /I bet he'd choose smth where all characters die. Imagine him reading Romeo and Juliet XDDDD

Anyway, I digress. I've listened to Diary of a Nobody (obv) and quite enjoyed it, I would enjoy seeing it as a stage play with the same actors I think, I do like Katherine Parkinson. Johnny Vegas - meh. As for which part I'd like him to play - I'd have loved to see him have a proper role in Misfits. I think he would do very well as a kind of shifty, swaggering type. And maybe in something like Brothers in the Head (without the siamese twin).
And obviously as David Thewlis' son...

I would enjoy seeing it as a stage play with the same actors Oh yes, that, I wouldn't mind. I'm not really a big fan of radio/audio things. I listen to audiobooks sometimes but only if they are read by smn I love (like, The Red Necklace by Tom Hiddleston or How To Train Your Dragon by David Tennant). It's hard for me to keep focused if there is only the sound and no visuals. Like I said, I fell asleep a few times when listening to this book, and it had nothing to do with the book, I suspect. It's not what I'd call my favourite, but it's not bad ( ... )
