Channel hopping

They said that they would send someone round to fix it, so it was decided that they could come and upgrade to the digital service while they were at it. We were offered digital before, but didn't want the bother of ( Read more... )

Haaaaaa ... I wish my parents would get that, unfortunately they couldn't be bothered before and now don't have the money to spend on that at this point in time.

How's the quality by comparison? Or is it hard to judge since the cable was on the fritz in the first place?

Nod. As we already had cable, it was only a small price increase per month. without it, we only have 5 terrestrial channels (though we can only receive four).

I think the quality is better, but that could be just my imagination. :) While it was on the fritz, most of the channels had interference or seemed scrambled, with only a handful of them available. So now it looks like it might be a little higher resolution, but it is sort of hard to compare as you said.

Ah. Makes sense. Also makes sense about the price increase being minimal compared to starting from scratch I guess.

LOL @ the expression "on the fritz" (considering that here fritz is the name of a sausage-like sandwich meat made from i think pig bits? eaten with tomato sauce... it's an Adelaide specific thing, not even typically Australian!)

I have to remember not to use that expression if I am in Adelaide. :) Just wanted an expression for 'not working properly' and could only think of that one. I did do a search for it and found that it is now a common American expression and that the British and Australian equivalent would be "on the blink". Which could mean that I might use more American phrases than I realized.
