I thought the whole Banderas thing was terrible. I left the room to make popcorn. Whoever made the decision to have him "sing" was an idiot -- "It's a song in Spanish... Hey! Let's have a Spanish actor sing it! Brilliant! Um..... do we know any Spanish actors? Oh yeah! Banderas! Can he sing? Does it matter? We need a Spanish man to sing this because the audience won't GET that it's a Spanish song unless a Spanish person sings it. The original singer? On the Oscars?? Bwahahahaha! What, are you crazy? The audience doesn't want to see that!! They want someone they recognize! And it has to be someone Spanish! We've got a Spanish guitarist so we have to have a Spanish singer!!"

I almost didn't watch this year. Maybe I should've just gone with my first instinct....

See, I watched it because I'd actually seen a good portion of the movies this year. Of course, the one we missed was Million Dollar Baby, because it was sold out when we went yestrday afternoon. Go figure. ;-)
