[Yunari] Air
She dreams, and as she does she slips away from herself. Not entirely - she can still feel the tug of her body - but enough to see them sitting there. Fire, glowing in the dark of the orcish hut, and another beside him…
“Thisss one’s changed.” The voice shifts from a whisper to a roar in the space of three words.
“You’ve stayed the same,” she retorts, looking around for a moment and then making herself comfortable, sitting cross-legged a little above the floor.
That gets a chuckle, and her mouth tightens as she recognizes it. Her own.
“I’ve paid your price, and I’ve not called on you for months. What do you want, Air?”
He spreads his hands wide, wrinkles of age rippling across his pale skin and then vanishing. “Is thisss how to greet an old friend?”
She snorts. “Always. What is it?”
Fire rolls his coal-black eyes but keeps silent for now. It’s not his disagreement.
“A gift, of sortsss.” He grins, showing jagged teeth, and then he’s young again, childlike. Yunari hopes he won’t try climbing into her lap. She knows him far too well. “There isss… a follower of mine. It requires assissstance. Go, help, and it will be yours as well.”
Now she folds her arms, looking skeptical. “Your kind don’t do gifts, Air.”
He shrugs. “Let us sssay it is a favor, too. And… a help for my good friend Fire.” He shoots Fire a look.
Fire shrugs. He’s the closest of them to Yunari, the one most invested in her survival, and he’s got a fair idea of what Air wants. It won’t hurt, it might help, but he can’t say he cares either way. Though… it’ll be amusing to watch Air get a taste of the girl’s bite. He looks to her, lightning cracking along his tusks, and nods once.
She’s left with a sour look and nothing else to do but nod in turn. “Fine. I’ll see where this ‘gift’ leads, Air.”
“Exssssscellent!” He beams, rising up toward the ceiling as he stands. “Thisss one’s a good child, a listening one.”
She waves to him as he dissipates, rolling her eyes. We’ll see, Air. We’ll see.
Fire takes the opportunity to vanish as well, and she’s left to find her way back to her body in the dark.
