My opinion (and I am always right, CLEARLY) is that it's not worth when it a) feels like a hassle and b) you're not getting any enjoyment out of it anymore. This kind of stuff shouldn't be a chore, it should be something you do as a sort of hobby.
I mean, think of it this way. Let's say that your hobby is playing on a weekend co-ed softball team. You go because you enjoy the game, you have fun with your teammates, and it's a nice relief from your day-to-day life. But if your teammates start getting nasty, drama springs up, and you end up dreading going to the games, would you still play? No! That's just adding stress to the your already-stressful life, and if you care about yourself, you'll do what's best for YOU and walk away.
Now, I don't actually know what's going on, and I like having you around, so I hope that you don't leave. If you ever want to chat on AIM though, feel free to IM me. It's "CapGal26" :-)
I think the point definately comes when you feel some sort of sinking feeling in your stomach at having to sign into whatever site you're going for. If you're not looking forward to finding whatever's there, then get rid of it because it's obviously not doing you any good.
I always find it ridiculous that the internet suddenly becomes such a chore for people. It's a distraction tool - it should be amusing and lighthearted.
To me, using the internet is like drinking: when it's fun, it can be so much fun, but when other people make me feel bad, it makes me miserable and is no longer worth it. But online, just as in real life, I have difference groups of friends. If I get sick and tired with the folks from NP/DoC, then I go chill with my Hogwarts Elite buddies. If I don't feel like chatting, I concentrate on reading blogs instead. If I'm in the mood to RP, great, but if I'm not, well, maybe there's a new ass I can point and laugh at posted on Fandom Wank.
More importantly, I don't want you to go offline completely because I want to read your NaNo as you write it. I am a greedy, selfish bitch like that.
I dun really know what you're talking about... but I hope you don't disappear or anything. I like having you around.
I guess if you don't get enjoyment out of something, you should stop it. If it feels like a waste of your time (as opposed to a good way to waste your time) you should stop it...
Every once in awhile it feels like getting onlie seems like a hastle and a lot of what kikithepirate and Perrie said. I hate it when it gets like that. When you start feeling obligated to be online. When that happens to me I take a break from the internets and be all well say fuck that and wander around and enjoy real life things. Then when I get bored again I come back online and talk to people, check the flist, do other internet related things.
Only do it when it's fun and full of enjoyment, when it crosses that line into crazy/hectic/drama and ful of hassle... Then take a break. *repeats what everyone else already said* :D

I find it ridiculous too, and now I'm starting to become one of those people. Which is bad, obviously.
