Youth is glamorized and constantly sought after, while the elderly are frowned upon and old age is a curse to avoid at all costs (many dollars included). It nearly pisses me off to hear someone afraid or nervous or embarrassed to admit that they're over 60 in order to get the 10% discount. And the heckling that comes from those even the tiniest bit

I work at a golf and country club where no joke the average age is 65. wanna hear the best part? they dont have the sick humor we do. they dont say degrading things. they tell me how pretty i am. they share jokes, quirky things their wives do, help me with my math homework, offer to show me a good golf swing, try to hook me up with "that kind gentleman in the golf shop". why? because they have good hearts. because they have lived long enough to know something. and you know what? i get to glean from all of them; some days its the only things that keeps me smiling. you are right, old friend. bravo.
