Ahh.. Actually that is Spain's flag. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_Spain It looks similiar to the ones used during the The Franco years. Though it would've been funny on the whole Prussia thing.
Personally as a non-nation-tan that reads your guys' entries I don't think the OOC is to bad. Especially if it's randomy facts or ficlets and the like. That would be cool. But..ahh.. Hope the flag thing helps some.
You're right! Thank you for the information, now I see why I couldn't find the 'Prussia x Spain' data!
I worry a lot about this kind of thing. *still feeling guilty*
Thank you ver much for your help! But now I have another question... why was Romano crying and Spain was like that if those guys were from his army. But seeing the other flags, it can also represent the Habsburg's flag... Interesting, interesting! *feels that she shouldn't be so worried about this because it all came from a fanart*
WHATWHAT. Portuguese, Spanish, English, AND skillz with Japanese? WOW. <3
Anyway, not gonna be much of a help at all. But still, my input:
I think it's fine to post information about the character that can affect the way they interact, though do tag it ooc or something of course. As for editing a single entry with Romano POV fics, Iunno if there's an option on LJ (like there is on devART) alerting everyone that you've added something different. So! Unless you want everyone to be alerted or not, really depends on that. The idea of a single post would certainly keep things more organized, though.
NEXT! The comic. More cluelessness on my behalf. Though, the hats in the first panel *kind-of* remind me of something of the Ottomans and it might be a reference to when Sadiq kidnapped Romano in that one stip? *IDK* But considering the posts prior to mine, that seems kind of unlikely I suppose? *Honestly thought it was Prussia too at first, lmao*.
Yes, indeed... I probably just ended up making you more confused... Sorry!
Anyway, off-topic, but I actually don't know what war or whatever this refers to. Pretty shameful, I know, but I can't figure it out. Mind enlightening me?~
I'm sorry to butt in, especially because I don't know for sure (I'm just going off what I could off of Google), but it might be talking about something from here: "1571-10-07 - Battle at Lepanto: Saint League (Spain & Italy) destroys Turkish fleet." Or even perhaps this.
As a side note, Turkey seems to really like invading Italy, especially when he was young (Pedo!Turkey?). Seriously! There are so many that I'm just not sure which that could be refering too... *Was totally not helpful, sorry*
As much as I would like for it to be Prussia, I don't think it is. I don't think it's Spain's flag either, because if you look at the bird on the Spainish flag, its wings are tucked in towards its body, and the bird in the picture has spread wings. I actually think that it's Austria, as the bird looks to have two heads and spread wings, as shown here, or more specifically, here. I was a little confused because the flag was striped until I found this. I think that the flag up there must be a combination of the two, as the bird has nothing in its talons.
Ah ha! And after much searching, I found proof here! It says, "Although Spain and Spanish America are lost to the Habsburgs under this treaty, Austria acquires some valuable territories - the Spanish Netherlands (henceforth to be known as the Austrian Netherlands) and the Spanish possessions in Italy. These include Milan, which remains Austrian with certain interruptions until 1859, and Naples, which reverts to Spain in 1738." So it's most likely that it was Austria taking away Romano
( ... )
Hetalia fans are so epic. Damn you guys! I'm really sorry if I made you guys loose your time just because I was being IC gay about this comic. Thank you very much for this!
I'm really happy to hear that! It's just that I really fell in love with Romano, he's just the cutest thing. I blame the japanese fans!! I should never ever ever started visiting those blogs!
Haha, oh it was really no problem! After I read your question, I was instantly curious myself and just had to look it up and bug my sister's boyfriend, who's a history major, haha! And it didn't really take all that long, maybe a half hour at most (though I really don't know for sure, as I horrible sense of time.)
Oh, I know, he's just adorable! Actually, it was you who made me fall in love with Romano; I had only seen one scanlated comic with him in it and therefore didn't really know a whole lot about him, so when I saw how cute and defensive you made him, I couldn't help but love him. I suppose it also helps that he's a lot like my cat (must draw Romano-cat now...ugh...). I wish I could read japanese so then I could surf the blogs too, haha.
I don't really understand much, but I know that 西ロマ means Spain/Romano :D (日 means Japan, 中 means China and 韓 means Korea, I forgot the others) and they usually use English terms like bkm (for links), gallery, pics or something similar for pictures... Here are two sites: http://kbk.eek .jp/ cgi/htdays/nic ky.cgi?ctg ry=1 and http://pec o.po lcad ot.net /top.ht ml
I think I found all the missing kanji from your translation 血に塗れたスペインが "Spain covered in blood"
怖かった "I was afraid"
and
初めて見たスペインの、 闘う姿に少しだけ、 恐怖を覚えたのも真実だ。 "It was true that I was a little afraid seeing for the first time Spain while he fought " not the best translation, but it's almost 2 a.m. here and that's the best my brain can do ^^' ...and my Japanese is far from perfect
as for the historical part (I'm from Romano's part of Italy :D) I think the comic takes place during the "War of the Spanish Succession" as viva_la_yaoi said. but I could always be wrong, Italian history is such a mess D: After that war, with the "Treaty of Utrecht", Spain lost its Italian territories (but they were reconquered 20 years later).
Hope this helped ^^
on a side note, I love the way you roleplay Romano ♥ if you should ever need any help with Italian-related things (from history, to language, to food and so on...) do not hesitate to ask me! I'll try to help you as much as I can :D

*smiles charmingly in a very Romano-way* Ciao!
FFFFFF~ OMG YOU FOUND THEM! <3 *gives a bear hug* I gave up after searching for 3 hours or so. Thank you very much! I searched everywhere for them (and obviously failed) and.... I'll never be able to thank you enough. Would you allow me to edit the post? I want to finish the translation in case anyone is interested.
This was the second time I tried to translate something from Japanese so please forgive me if I did anything wrong!
Oh God! I'm sorry if I made any mistakes when roleplaying him, sometimes I get a little excited! *cough&shifty eyes* I-it's all Spain's fault! He's too cute! How can I keep my grumpy personality when he's such a nice guy? D:
Ahem... Well, I'm glad to hear that!!! Please, if you notice that I gave any incorrect information feel free to correct me. It's not only about playing 'better' but I feel like I should always give the most correct answers possible. A-and I really respect you, Italy's history is so complex! *spent a few hours studying the Italian Unification and the time that* Thank you so much for your offer!!!
Man, I would have helped you out but I was too busy sleeping and getting killed away friday, saturday, and most of today. Glad you found what you were looking for, though.

I was thinking about it too, but it's not like I would post those drabbles frequently. *laaaa~zy* But thank you, I'm glad to hear your opinion!
Since I saw Turkey wearing that hat, I fell in love with it. *makes grabby hands*
Damn... I'm giving up. *sighs* History students of the Old World, you guys are my heroes!
