Fortunately, Nico hadn't deemed it necessary to lock Lovino up or chain him to the kitchen sink. Not that that made life any more bearable for the Italian, and after the first two days of screaming at his cousin and telling her (repeatedly) that she was a gypsy's Satana's bastard child he'd quietened down to simply sulking in the room he'd been given.
After a week's passing Nicoleta had permitted him one phone call, but Lovino didn't take it immediately. He wasn't going to call Antonio while the wench was in the room, and he wanted to believe the Spaniard wasn't worrying too much anyway. Afterall, he had mentioned leaving for Independence day, even if that was nine (nine?) days ago now.
When he did dial in the Mansion's shortcut number- the secure line untapped by the greater Famiglia- it was late, and Nico had had the common courtesy to leave him alone. Or rather, she'd experienced a rare surge of confidence for the Italian and his ability to not fuck something up.
Either way Lovino was alone.
The dial tone rang in his ear as he impatiently rapped his fingers against the windowsill. It was too early for Antonio to be at his stupid gay bar orgy, and God forbid he'd kill the Spaniard if he slept through this one call.
