Are your 2 beginner band classes both elementary? Maybe combine the two, and make that extra period a class for the "older" beginners. That way you can give them more 1-on-1 time and you don't have to slow down your "keepers".
Good thought except that it's at a completely different school and it's only a 30 minute period during the "older" beginners lunch.
Since i have such a big load, I'm going to see if I can't get out of FAS in the future and turn that in to a beginner band class. Take that for a year and then you can go to the high school band. Don't take it and stay in FAS. :)
OMG! You have such a full plate. I'm so proud of you. I can't wait to hear about these kids at the end of the year. You're gonna be a great teacher and such an influence in their lives!
Fine Arts Survey: a thought...break it into 4 segments: art, music, theatre, and dance. Treat it like a history course and teach the kids about famous painters/teachers/performers...it's just an overview course to expose kids to the arts.
