boat scene

A friend of mine recommended me the movie, "Kissing Jessica Stein" a while ago. I finally got around to renting it, and it turned out to be a pretty good romantic comedy. The funny thing was that I really enjoyed a scene in the movie was not even in the actual movie itself. I came across it in the deleted scenes section of the DVD. It's a monologue ( Read more... )

I hate romantic comedies most of the time, but I really enjoyed Kissing Jessica Stein because it, unlike most romantic comedies, never insulted my intelligence. You have to have a brain to get the clever, witty snippets of dialogue (just like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind).

I wish I had watched some of those deleted scenes, that monologue is beautiful.

That's true; it doesn't have one of those happy mushy endings that you know could never really happen.

You should really see that "boat scene" monologue, it's absolutely brilliant. Even in the way it was acted...it was perfection. I think it's probably because the actress (who also wrote this movie) really does feel that way. If you ever have some spare time, re-rent the movie and watch the boat scene. It's one of the best monologues I've ever seen in a movie.

Yeah, i liked that movie too. They play it on the WE (Womens Entertainment) network all the time (lol). That is a good monologue too. They must have decided to make it more of a light-hearted comedy or something in the editing room. Thats a shame, i hate it when they do that.

Aw, too bad I don't have WE (or any other of the channels you all get to watch for that matter) since I don't have cable. Haha, Womens Entertainment sounds like it would be similar to the channel Oxygen (I think that's what it's called). I heard it was another one of those girly channels.

And yes, they really shouldn't have taken out that monologue. It would have made the movie just that much more meaningful.
