I can't believe so few people seem to be affected. I can't believe that you could hear about something like that and just brush it off like it's just another news story. I can't believe that you wouldn't feel for them and cry for them and hurt for them. It's not just because Lenni goes to VA Tech that I freaked out when I heard the news. We are so ( Read more... )

i would hope people are not desensitized to this. it is such a tragedy...we can only pray for their families and loved ones.

Thank you for writing this and I could not agree more. This is what's so terrible about our society; nothing seems to phase us anymore. People snicker when I tell them that I cry every time I watch John Lennon's "Merry Christmas (War is Over)" video (it shows footage of civilians during war and it's one of the most heart-breaking saddest things I've ever seen). It's shocking how disattached people are, how self-centered and self-absorbed our lives have become. If it doesn't directly affect you, whatever, it doesn't matter. :/

i agree that there are a lot of desensitized people out there, but i think it's safe to say that not everyone is when it comes to things like a war being fought a half a world away, or a shooting rampage ( ... )
