Thank you for writing this and I could not agree more. This is what's so terrible about our society; nothing seems to phase us anymore. People snicker when I tell them that I cry every time I watch John Lennon's "Merry Christmas (War is Over)" video (it shows footage of civilians during war and it's one of the most heart-breaking saddest things I've ever seen). It's shocking how disattached people are, how self-centered and self-absorbed our lives have become. If it doesn't directly affect you, whatever, it doesn't matter. :/

i agree that there are a lot of desensitized people out there, but i think it's safe to say that not everyone is when it comes to things like a war being fought a half a world away, or a shooting rampage
