Hell yea-- all the time. Especially when you go into any larger city. Because of the rail system, most of the time, when you're entering any metro area, you hit the poor suburbs first. They're unmistakably "hood." The term "suburb" is actually French in origin, and referred to 'less-than-urban' places (i.e. places w/ poor people). That's the trend across Europe.

We can thank once cheap gas, and lobbying from automakers back in the day for our reversed urban structure in the U.S.

To me, what's sad about all this is that the Europe and the U.S. really have a hard time acknowledging that colonialism and slavery created a fundamental economic divide that can be reversed...if certain greedy individuals and families own up and redistribute their wealth:
