i like sitting on my bed with my laptop on my lap.
and i can hear a million old men and women (post babies of the boom) grumble under their breath. i finished, just now, two articles absolutely trashing the teen culture. and when i say i finished them, i finished them. I think that children are naturally inclined toward passion, and toward absorbing those delicious little tidbits of books that will eventually aid in building their own personal philosophy. But even if a child is capable of being excellent, the teacher needs to somehow help to actualize a student's potential in a classroom environment. For anything beyond mediocre to actually happen, both student and teacher need to understand that their relationship should be one of inspiring passion, not of accepting mediocrity so as not to hurt one another's feelings or require that they spend more time doing their jobs. There's just this idea out there that school isn't fun and video games are, and that getting away without doing much work and still getting good grades is the goal, and teachers are just too burnt out to do much about it. It's so sad... laziness isn't fun, our brains are rotting, and there's something that feels revoltingly superficial about the whole thing ( ... )
