It wasn't very often tha Rebekah found a present that was guaranteed to intrigue her brother.  She wouldn't say it was a present that would make Elijah smile, not with his morals and his honor code but she knew he would definitely be intrigued but what she had found.  She knew that she was but she hadn't sated her curiosity because she figured he ( Read more... )

Elijah had caught a new scent on the air when Rebekah came home, but given how much she liked to hunt, he didn't think much about it. When she came into the office, he was chatting with a business associate. Since giving up running things for Klaus, he'd found himself a new hobby in running an ... interesting enterprise or two. It couldn't be perfectly legitimate, not with all the fake identities he had to deal with, and, besides, nothing legitimate ever brought you the kind of power he enjoyed, even if it was seemingly without a face.

He gave her a smile before finishing up his conversation. Truthfully, he was still a little surprised she'd come with him instead of staying with Niklaus or going after Kol. He knew he wasn't as much...fun as their brothers, but he did love her, and as much as he'd needed to get away after the things Esther had done, the things he and Rebekah had done, he really hadn't wanted to be alone.

After hanging up, he gave her a small smile again. "Have fun tonight?"

It would have been expected of her to stay with Niklaus and she had no doubt in her mind that their hybrid brother was probably upset at her leaving with Elijah but she didn't care anymore. She had decided to forgive Nik for killing their mother but that didn't mean she wanted to stay and deal with the same things she had dealt with for years till he decided to dagger her. Plus she had no desire to be near the little doppelganger bitch and all her fans who worked so hard to keep her alive.

No, being with Elijah in New York was a much better idea.

"I did." She returned the smile, pleased when he ended his call. "In fact, it was rather interesting." Her eyes danced warmly with her secret as she tilted her head to the side.

"I brought you something."

Elijah had, shockingly, mostly forgiven Niklaus, as well, but he did not want to get sucked back into the life he'd led for too long. He didn't want to just run Niklaus's sho, always been obedient and helpful. He'd enjoyed his time as an autonomous power too much to go back to how it had been, and he'd found himself falling into old patterns too easily.

This was better, then, the two of them on their own. He settled back in his chair, steepling his fingers as he watched her, looking a little amused.

Their ideas of interesting nights were probably different, but he was intrigued by the idea of a gift. "Oh? What did you bring me?"

"No, you're not ruining it." Rebekah moved, uncrossing her legs as she rose to her feet. "I'm not going to just tell you, I want to show you."

Holding out her hand, she wriggled her fingers with a little smirk.
